Audience: Early readers. Age 6 to 8 years-old

Context
Mely & the Baby Tomato is a children's picture book written by Melissa Severeid. Commissioned directly by the author, I was responsible for the full illustration of the book — from character design and emotional expression to final spreads — bringing her story to life for early readers aged 6 to 8. The project required developing a visual language that was playful and expressive while supporting the narrative arc of the story. Characters were designed with a range of emotions to carry the story's emotional beats without relying on text.
